The Council continues to provide a range of support to people with a housing need in what are incredibly difficult times for them.

At the start of the coronavirus pandemic the Council helped rough sleepers access accommodation and have stayed in touch with them to offer continued support. They also continue to carry out regular night-time searches across the county so that help can be offered to any rough sleepers.

Anyone found is provided with a mobile phone with credit so they can contact the Council and other services.

The Housing Solutions team receive over 13,000 calls per year from those seeking assistance with the homeless application process and while the housing advice helpline is just one of a variety of ways rough sleepers can access support, from last week they have introduced a new freephone helpline.

The new helpline will allow residents in need of assistance to contact the team for homeless advice at no charge to themselves and we would therefore encourage anyone who is in housing need to contact them on 08081 968 406.
