Liberal Democrat Councillors for Elvet, Crossgate, Highgate, Sidegate, St Nicholas and Gilesgate Bank Learn more
Hello there. I’m David Freeman, Durham born and bred!
I have lived all my life in Durham City. I have been the councillor for the City centre area since 2003, on the City of Durham Council and more recently Durham County Council. I am a member of the St Nicholas Community Forum, Elvet Residents Association, City of Durham Trust and am the Council’s representative on the Bow Trust which runs the Durham Heritage Centre in South Bailey.
I previously worked in local government with City of Durham Council and Gateshead Council, and presently work at the Passport Office in Durham.
In my spare time I like to run, cycle, visit second hand book shops, watch British films, and listen to music, everything from progressive rock to dance.
At the County Council I Chair the Area Planning Committee (Central and East) and serve on the Environment & Sustainable Communities Overview & Scrutiny Committee.
I am also a Charter Trustee for the City of Durham and a member of the University, New College, City and Police Liaison Group.
