The County Council intends, from 10.00 pm on Monday 28 September 2015, to temporarily prohibit vehicular traffic from driving in a north easterly direction on a 135 metre length of A690 between its junction with Sutton Street and North Road Roundabout, Durham City.

The north eastbound closure is necessary to enable railway bridge inspection works to be undertaken which will probably take some 8 hours to complete.

Cllr Richard Ormerod said:

“An alternative route will be available to vehicular traffic from the western side of the closure from A690 turning northwards onto Sutton Street then south easterly on North Road to the roundabout to the eastern side of the eastbound closure.”
