Local Lib Dems have given their support to plans by St Oswald’s School to become a full primary school from September 2014.

At present St. Oswald’s only has pupils to Year 2 (age 7). This causes problems for parents/carers in having to find a place at another school for when they start Year 3. This situation will be alleviated should this proposal go ahead as the primary school will have a capacity for 105 pupils.

Local Cllr David Freeman has written to Durham County Council fully supporting the school’s plans and has said that the proposals were very good news for the City Centre. This is the only local school in the area and will in future be able to take children from reception to final year primary, if plans go ahead.
