St. Margaret’s Allotments on Margery Lane, Durham, are holding their annual open day on Sunday 10th July 1.30- 5.30pm.
Visit over 100 allotments, spread across 5 acres, set against the spectacular backdrop of Durham Cathedral. On a site that has been cultivated since the Middle Ages enthusiastic gardeners, many using organic methods, cultivate plots which display a wonderful variety of fruit, vegetables and flowers. Guided tours are available, and visitors will be able to walk around the site and chat to the gardeners.
Home-made teas, plants and produce will be on sale in St Margaret’s Centre adjacent to the allotments.

Entrance fee is £5, children are free. Pre-booking via the National Gardens Scheme at https://ngs.org.uk/view-garden/20700 is advisable. This scheme supports a number of charities.
