Thank you very much to the many residents who have raised concerns about the lack of street lighting in the area.

Much of the Sands is plunged into darkness after 4:30 at the moment and many residents understandably feel unsafe. 

Your councillors have had a response from Durham County Council indicating that there is a cable fault in the area.

Northern Powergrid are responsible for repairs as the power supplier and were made aware of this on 1 December. They have a 20-day target in which to respond.

However, given the seriousness of the situation your councillors have asked them to respond as soon as they possibly can. We hope that repairs can be carried out in the very near future.
