Electronic music opportunity

by Group Office on 20 October, 2020

Jack Drum Arts, an arts organisation based in Crook, is offering a 12-week online Electronic Music-Making course for girls and young women.

The project is funded by Spirit 2012’s Female Carers Music Fund. The definition of carer is very broad and includes registered and unregistered carers, girls who may provide care for siblings, and mums. Throughout the pandemic, the number of people providing care has increased and most people will be eligible for the course

Online Electronic Music-Making for Women and Girls
Wednesdays 21st October – 20th January (with a break 23rd & 30th December)

6pm – 8pm via Zoom

Absolutely no experience necessary

Lady Gaga. Björk. Kate Bush. Annie Lennox. Goldfrapp. Ladyhawke. What have they got in common? They’re all women who smashed their way onto the electric music scene, and you can too!

Join world-class professional drummer and musician Cat Myers to learn all about the basics of electronic music-making in a friendly and welcoming environment. From synths to samples, loops to lyrics, she’ll guide you step-by-step towards your own personal compositions. All you need to take part is a laptop or tablet device and access to wi-fi.

Cat Myers is an accomplished session drummer, composer & drum tutor, in the past few years she’s mainly been touring the world with KT Tunstall & Mogwai. As a Roland Artist, Cat specialises in incorporating electronics & samples into drumming, attempting to push the boundaries of what she can play live. www.catmyers.com
