Improvement works are taking place at Owengate, Durham City, this summer.
Works to widen the footpaths to improve disabled access to Palace Green Library, Durham Cathedral and Durham Castle will start on Monday 24 July until September. The works are part of a two year programme of £1.84m investment to improve the roads and footpaths across Durham City.
During the works Owengate will be closed to pedestrians and vehicles Monday to Friday between 8.30am and 4.30pm.
The current cobbled surface will be replaced with a temporary road surface to allow the cobbles to be redressed. The cobbles will then be relaid in 2018.
Full details including alternative access to Palace Green and the Cathedral Bus route can be found at www.durham.gov.uk/owengate
