Liberal Democrat Councillors for Elvet, Crossgate, Highgate, Sidegate, St Nicholas and Gilesgate Bank Learn more
by Elvet & Gilesgate Lib Dems on 11 October, 2016
The planning meeting on Kepier House was held this afternoon. The planners had recommended approval. Local Cllr David Freeman spoke against the application largely on transport grounds as the latest application had a reduction in car spaces from 46 to 34 (for 35 flats!). Local Lib Dems are pleased that the committee agreed with us and it was unanimously refused.
Persimmon can still appeal but Cllr Freeman urged them to build the 35 flats application they unfortunately got permission for last year, which had an undercroft carpark for cars.
David also told the representatives from Persimmon it was disgraceful the way they had left the site and urged them to erect a proper fence. We are sure that will have gone down well with them!
Also refused at the committee, after opposition from Cllr Freeman and Elvet Residents Association, was an application to turn the former Lloyds Bank in Elvet into a take-away.
